Have you ever quit a job?

Why?

I quit working at Taco Bell because I was sick of it and bad at it and I was a teenager who didn't need the money that much.

I quit a couple of other jobs in college because I just didn't like them that much and was still living with my parents and didn't 100% need to get another job before I quit. Though after many years I went back to one of the places and that's where I work now.

I quit working another job because I had a baby.

The teenagers at my job make me wonder why they don't quit. They complain constantly. I'm not sure what they think is so terrible though. It seems to be only the people who have never had another job to compare this to who complain.

I quit my job in care from a combination of stress/needing a bit of time away and issues with staff/how carelessly the place was being run.

Yes. I was hating the job anyways because my boss made me do a job I was not hired for and was horrible. And then he had this big fucking group meeting and was ended it with "If anyone doesn't want to work here, like you Kaijin, feel free to quit." I started crying as soon as I got back to my area. My co-workers tried to comfort me but it didn't work. I quit two days later on that Friday.

That was fucking gross of him to target you in a meeting like that. What a prick. :(

What a dick!

How dare that asshole! I mean I've had bosses who've ordered me to do jobs I've had no training for whatsoever. Mostly because they didn't know/care enough about who did what, just so long as it got done... But for them to go out of their way to demean you like that?! I can't even imagine!

Ugh... all I have to say is that it's good that you quit! That place must have been toxic, it's best that you left!

I quit one job that was stressing me out so much I vomitted, and another because it was impossible to do with my hearing.
Most satisfying was quitting my job in retail because I found a job in the actual area I studied in and could go "bye, I'm going to be doing something I enjoy!"

Yup. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, I worked in a movie theatre where the workers were not valued (though this may not be a surprise?). They withheld wages from folks during a time where we were limited to paper timesheets, fired people for having medical emergencies, and made a bunch of stupid rules about how the breakroom should look (despite the fact that the workers were the only ones who saw it, and we didn't leave it dirty in any way). They cut back my hours the moment they "gave" me a raise. Did I mention they started conveniently forgetting to give people breaks? The last straw was when one boy quit, tired of being underpaid and yelled at by managers who never really needed a reason to yell at anyone for any reason. It had been going downhill for a while, and I think I just needed that nudge to gtfo.

But... but... that is so illegal?!?
Like everything! I mean, I know the movie industry is harsh, but that is just ridiculous!

Well, no one really cared about what was going on, and they were the only game in town. Being young and in my position, I guess it never occurred to me to do anything about it besides quit. And I won't lie; we weren't exactly innocent either, but some of the punishments seemed out of proportion to the crime. (I will say working there made me learn the value of a dollar store, heh.)

I still see one of the d-bag managers around town once in a blue moon. I'm friendly at best, civil at worst. I don't hold anything against him. Over the years, I changed jobs and put myself through school until I qualified for a job that paid much more than a movie theatre worker on minimum hours for minimum wage. I have great hours, can live on my own if desired, and purchase my own transportation. No one ever yells at me for needing time off for any reason, and I can relocate in a better area for work. Both his life nor his work situation have stagnated since then. I don't envy him.

I've quit three, all of which were seasonal or temp jobs. All three I actually quit because I wasn't physically capable of the labor - I was left with constant, excruciating back pain, and two of them I actually got hurt on the job.

I know my limits and when I just can't hack it.

Yep. I've quit two jobs because there was a change in management/supervisor positions and the new people were assholes, plus they kept asking me to do things that weren't a part of the job description but then didn't want to up my pay to correspond to the fact that I was doing considerably more than I'd been hired to do.

I had to quit a job I actually liked because I had to move.
I've had some jobs I hated enough that I thought about quitting but I couldn't find a better job at the time.

I'd only been working at this restaurant for maybe three months. They kept calling me to pick up last minute shifts, and they didn't give me any sort of training. Plus, the assistant manager was the boss's daughter and she disliked me. One day my aunt and uncle came to town for an unplanned visit. They wanted to see me, and I knew I wouldn't have another chance to see them for a year or so. I was working 4 - 10 that night. Another girl was working 5 - 9. I asked if we could swap shifts this one time so I could see my relatives for a late dinner. The assistant manager said no and refused to even let me ask the girl who was working the 5 - 9 shift. Another girl offered to do my clean-up for me so I could leave early, but again the assistant manager said no. She told me if I had a problem I could quit. So I took my apron off, handed her my order pad, told her what tables she'd need to serve, and left.

Fortunately I got hired on somewhere a bit less shitty within a week. Plus, I got to have dinner with my aunt and uncle. So it worked out okay in the end.
