My coworker has been out sick all week, and although she claimed when I talked to her this evening that she'll be back tomorrow, I'm halfway expecting to hear when I get there tomorrow morning that she's not coming in again and I've got to call her clients and cancel their meetings. She's "sick" all the time, and she always does this. I'll say "hey, let me go ahead and cancel your meetings for tomorrow" because I feel like it's good to give people advance notice, she SWEARS she'll be back the next day, but then I find out that she's "still too sick" and I've gotta cancel them at the last minute, which I hate doing because they're frequently unhappy about being canceled at the last minute (which I totally understand) and take it out on me. If I knew in advance, I could give them more notice and hopefully avoid them being pissed at me, but I can't cancel the day before in the rare case she DOES come back when she says she's going to, and if she came in to find out all her clients were canceled, then SHE'D be pissed at me and I'd probably get in trouble.

Ugh.

Also, I'm annoyed by some really dumb fandom things at the moment but I'm not gonna go there.

Oh man, that sounds like a very annoying, unreliable coworker. I'm sorry.

Ugh, I've had colleagues like that. It sucks. Hugs for you. I used to have one who would come in, let the previous shift leave, then decide an hour into our shift that she wasn't well enough and disappear. Hopefully your boss will notice her unreliability and do something about it.
