This is why I honestly like the Australian version of Masterchef the most out of the Masterchefs (though admittedly I haven't watched much of the Canadian one). All three judges are just... so nice! Like, they'll disapprove of choices and give honest feedback, but they're never dickheads about it.

From what I've seen, they've actually been criticised by the media for being too nice and I just sit there going "But that's literally the only reason why I watch this show!!! (Well that and the contestants all being so bloody adorably supportive of each other)"

They probably are. That's why GBBO is so much more fun than, say, 'MasterChef' or 'Hell's Kitchen' - i hate all the fakey drama, all the snide and ugly comments, all the backstabbing. I end up just fast forwarding through half the program.

Same OP. The Canadian judges are more interested in constructive criticism than the drama you get on most american food competition shows.

The US version of Chopped is generally so understated with their criticism (except for once or twice when a contestant has literally served the judges something dangerous). What kind of sickening lovefest must Canadian Chopped be to be held up as that much of a contrast?
