I think Rahul's a sweetheart. I could see where his demeanor might put some people off, but I think it's 100% sincere caused by low self esteem and being painfully shy.

I admit that in the first few episodes, I was wary of him, because unfortunately those attributes often seem to accompany a certain amount of toxicity, but he really seemed like a genuinely good guy.

I agree. He isn't negative about or towards other people, just himself. IIRC one of the reasons why he took up baking as a hobby was a suggestion from one of his co-workers, so he could make friends. And he has, bless him.
