You're not crazy. I read it the same way (because that's literally what it says). Then I went, "Kay, hold the phone," read it again slowly, and realized what they meant to say.

I'm with you. The "Also," in particular made it seem like a separate thought rather than a continuation. It was a poorly worded comment and the people criticizing or mocking have no basis to do so.

If English is your second language, I could see where that might be confusing. But “also” is commonly used to continue the discussion of a single idea, similar to “as well.”

Honestly, people are being a little unfair. But if tabaqui didn’t always respond with hostile bitchiness to the things she misunderstands they’d probably go easier on her. It’s a pattern.

If you had been correct in your assumption that the person you initially responded to believes that the average human dies in their forties, do you think that your unkind response to their ignorance was useful or necessary? People, and it’s definitely multiple people, are “snotty” to you because you are a mean person. It doesn’t help that half the time you’re attacking people over something that you misunderstood.

Context is key. The sentence is part of a discussion of the predicted life expectancy for someone with CF today. It isn’t some great stretch to see that they’re talking about the average person with the disease.
