(Anonymous) 2018-11-16 01:09 am (UTC)(link)Side note: Does anyone else feel like there's been a general trend among Internet critics towards a more laid-back less in your face approach to reviewing? Because if you compare people like YourMovieSucks and IHateEverything to earlier reviewers like the Nostalgia Critic, there's a lot less of that OMGCAPSLOCKOVERREACTTOEVERYTHING delivery-style.
IDK maybe I'm just being more selective in the kinds of reviews I watch.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-16 01:39 am (UTC)(link)Very true :P It's just interesting to me because I followed TNC/Channel Awesome back when it was just starting out in 2007/2008 and now it feels like there's an actual second generation of critics who were brought up on people like Nostalgia Critic and the AVGN, and either consciously or unconsciously are trying to differentiate themselves from that style.
IDK man, I know it's a hilariously niche topic but I think it would actually be interesting if someone did a study on the evolution of Internet video criticism and what kind of effect its had on media itself, as well as the different styles of criticism that evolved.
