I don't understand how in 2018 people are still unable to get when people are obviously joking on Tumblr

To be fair, without things like tone of voice, body language or other forms of larger context it can be hard to judge when people are joking on the Internet. There's a reason Poe's Law is a thing.

Because increasingly shitty things are said on tumblr that aren't jokes and as other comment to you says, there's no easy way to tell what is a joke and what is not without more context or cues. I'd like Shit Antis Say to be jokes but they're not, and neither is some of the other crap like "anyone who's served in the military deserves to have PTSD because they're child murderers".
