145. I agree that sex between two people in love is a beautiful thing -- to be honest, the only reason I usually read smut is if it shows sex as some emotional turning point or culmination in the characters' relationship.

But sorry, going to have to disagree very very hard with the idea that everyone who says sex is gross is "knocking it before they try it" or "denying themselves the experience". Asexuals have no physical or emotional desire to experience sex with someone else -- we're not denying ourselves anything if we have no desire for it in the first place. I respect that people want to have sex, and I think in many occasions it can be a very healthy, fulfilling experience for them, but at the same time I resent the idea that not wanting to have sex instantly means I'm "broken" or "repressed" or "depriving myself" or anything to that effect. Asexuality is a valid orientation (or lack thereof), and the way you're talking about asexuals here sounds very similar to a straight man saying "sex with a girl is awesome, why would homosexuals want to deny themselves that?".

YESSSS exactly. I like reading smut when there's some sort of emotional change/involvement implied/written out, because I find it interesting. But I really don't have an urge to experience it myself, so why should I force myself?

I seriously don't understand this reasoning (or lack thereof). I don't have to get cancer myself to understand that it really, really sucks. I'd rather (hope I can) deny myself that experience. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't enjoy it.
