In b4 Hurt by Johnny Cash.

Hmmm, I honestly am not sure, but I've been listening to the Disturbed version of "Land of Confusion" a lot lately.

Jimi Hendrix and "All Along The Watchtower" is up there with Cash's "Hurt" in the "Cover that was so amazing people don't even realize it is a cover" department, in my opinion.

Aerosmith's cover of "Come Together" is pretty awesome, and I've got a soft spot for the Simon and Garfunkel cover of "The Times, They Are A Changin". There's also Neil Diamond's "Suzanne", Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now", Elvis Costello's "Days", Miles Fisher's "This Must Be The Place", Sun Ra's "Pink Elephants"

Does John Coltrane's instrumental of "Favorite Things" count as a cover?

Also Led Zepplin's "When The Levy Breaks"

"Hey Joe" is more of a standard now, but I'm fond of versions by Charlotte Gainsboug, Patti Smith. And then there's the Deep Purple version with John Lord giving you the maximum Hammond sound.

Patti Smith can cover just about anything and make it punk and often religious, including "Gloria," "Hey Joe," and managing to out punk Nirvana on "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with a fucking banjo arrangement. I don't count "Because the Night" as a cover because Smith changed the lyrics and Springsteen sat on his studio track for over a decade.

The Animals have the definitive "House of the Rising Sun," although that's arguably a standard rather than a cover.

Angelique Kidjo did a cover of the entire Talking Heads' Remain in Light album, and it is fantastic.

Irma Thomas version of "Time Is On My Side"

This Mortal Coil's version of 'Song To The Siren' makes me cry every time.

I like Pentatonix's covers of White Winter Hymnal and Papaoutai, Hozier's covers of Do I Wanna Know and Problem, a lot of what Postmodern Jukebox puts out (especially their versions of American Idiot, Still Into You, and Hey There Delilah), Janelle Monáe's cover of Want You Back, Mary Lambert's cover of Jesse's Girl, and (it's a pretty weird one) Max Raabe and Palast Orchester's cover of We Will Rock You.

"Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by Sweet Talk Radio

Kendra Morris's cover of Karma Police. It's kinda bluesy and I dig it.

I'm fond of Ghost's covers (Particularly Here Comes the Sun (originally Beatles), Missionary Man (Eurythmics), It's a Sin (Pet Shop Boys), and Avalanche (Leonard Cohen)), and Halestorm's (especially I Want You (She's So Heavy) (Beatles again), Bad Romance (Lady Gaga), Get Lucky (Daft Punk), and Heathens (21 Pilots)). I actually like the originals of Bad Romance and Heathens (sue me :p), but I like Halestorm's versions better. (The others listed, I generally like the covers and originals about equally.)

Japanese woman covering English songs are also high on my list... The brilliant green's covers of All Day and All of the Night (The Kinks) and Song 2 (Blur) don't change the arrangement that much...but I just love Tommy's voice. Her cover (as Tommy february⁶) of All Through the Night (Cyndi Lauper) is also fun - although it's actually my least favourite on the album (We Love Cyndi - a Japanese tribute album to CL)...the best being Puffy's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, and Nana Kitade's She Bop... And then there's Puncolle...punk/grunge covers by Japanese voice actresses... Haruna Ikezawa's adorable cover of Basket Case (Green Day) - which Puffy also did a good version of - and weirdly dreamy versions of Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) and Anarchy in the UK (Sex Pistols) by Yuuko Goto and Rie Tanaka respectively are particular standouts.

Ah, one more while I'm at it... Mike Flowers Pops Velvet Underground Medley, combining All Tomorrow's Parties, Venus in Furs, and White Light, White Heat into a single loungy track.

I...uh...I like covers. >_>
