What video games do you think can best be described as "art"

By graphics, story, whatever.

For storyline: Bioshock, Braid, Firewatch, and The Last of Us.

For graphics: Limbo, Ori and the Blind Forest, and Okami.

Hmm... I'd assume Bioshock would be down for aesthetics, rather than storyline;;

Okami is a fantastic example. Love that game. So pretty.

Journey remains one of the only games to make me cry without 100% knowing why. The climax is just so beautiful.

Shadow of the Colossus. The sheer melancholy of its setting permeates everything, even the player.

Silent Hill 2. There has not been, nor am I sure there ever will be again, such a raw and wrenching exploration of grief and guilt.

The Stanley Parable. Good god, this game is pure meta-narrative genius. I keep wanting to play it again, but I'm still working on that achievement for not playing it for five years.

On a similar-ish note (same guy who made it) The Beginner's Guide surprised me. I wasn't expecting the twists that it throws at you, and the way it snaps so quickly from outrospection to introspection stays with you.

Mother 3, definitely, for everything.

Okami, Journey, and Odin's Sphere for visuals.

NieR and NieR Automata for the blend of atmosphere, music, and emotion that really is more than the sum of its parts. Those games make me FEEL more than I really should, and art is about feeling more than anything, I think.

Silent Hill 2 for being Silent Hill 2.

The soundtrack of FFVI in particular because I love following various musical phrases through the soundtrack. Like, figuring out that every character from the evil empire has a theme that begins with the same three notes. The little things like that that pop up in it are really neat, I think.

I'm sure there are a lot of things I'm not thinking of. I have the biggest soft spots and loves for a lot of games, and they're all art in their own way, but I don't know of many that I could convince other people are art.

I don't know if it counts as a video game, but I always thought Myst looked stunning.

Journey- hands down it's beautiful; visually, musically, and storywise... It's perfect.

Beyond: Two Souls- One of the best games I've ever played. Storywise, it is art. I can't even describe the ways it's hit me. (and I know the guy who wrote it is an asshole, but i didn't at the time, and i refuse to let his bullshit change the way i feel about this game...)

Chips Challenge- for no other reason than the fact that I've played it for well over a decade now;; and I love it;; (and I need to list something fun after the other two;;)

(and according to the MOMA)
Katamari- which is outstanding visually, another of my favourite games. (I honestly took more than ten minutes trying to reconnect the controller to the console in the middle of the museum, just so I could play it)

Portal- both conceptually, and constructively. Seriously, play it.

(and a lot more...)

All of them honestly. Art is just a means of expression. If it's good art is the real question.
