Because if they make one character blond and one brunet, they can use ~*adjectives*~ instead of their actual names. Similarly, they can pretend one of these characters (Mike, it's gonna be Mike) is noticeably shorter than his costar there, so they can play 'shorter man/taller man'.

The Suits guys are a pair I can't ship or understand because I can't even tell them apart.

I will never miss an opportunity to rant about this. WHY doesn't one of them have glasses or a beard or a man bun? Fuckin' hell!

DA - this seems rather extreme. Yeah, they're both kind of generic-looking, but they're hardly twins. It's pretty easy to tell them apart from each other. And you wouldn't even need appearance-related epithets to do so.
