VII! Not the Compilation, just the original game. I loved the characters, I loved the world, the music, everything about the Lifestream. I liked a lot of the other Final Fantasy games, especially VI and IX, but none of them quite caught me like VII did.

If I honestly had to pick ONE that was my favorite (unpopular opinion time!) it'd be VIII. I just ended up really really loving those characters, and that world, and the Junction system, and the GF system, and all of that. It just worked for me.

If I'm allowed to pick a top three, though, the other two would be IV and XV. That's... probably also an unpopular opinion. IV is just so solid in terms of its story and pacing, and I really love the sad messed-up dynamics between Cecil, Rosa, and Kain. XV was, granted, kind of a mess in its story, but god damn did they make four incredibly believable characters and inter-relationships, and a beautiful world that I was completely able to sink myself into. That was enough to make me desperately care what was happening to them, even if you could drop trucks through some of the holes. (Not as many as people think there are, though.)

Honestly? FFX-2. The story wasn't that great but the battle system with the dresspheres was just so much fun. I loved it.
