That's silly. You have no reason to believe that OP wasn't making a good faith effort besides your own cynicism about the character. I can see where Karen could be a more sympathetic character but frankly, the inconsistencies in her character reek of bad writing and it's very annoying even if you know it's the fault of sloppy characterization and people who don't give a shit about continuity issues.

Not silly at all. It’s fairly common IME. Some people will just never like a character no matter where their story goes. And the whole “I tried to like them,” is as valid a thing as it is often utter bullshit.
