-have two or three pairs of shoes so you can swap out every day.
-don't lock your knees, and make sure you're stretching a few times a day. Bend your knees and/or squat when you can.
-it sounds counter-intuitive, but walking (especially on your off days) and strength building exercises will help a lot in the long-term
-make sure you're getting enough water and electrolytes. Eat lots of bananas to help with the muscle cramps. Good multi-vitamins can help, too.
-if you're significantly overweight, then losing weight will probably help saves your knees.
-drink water before bed and sleep with your legs+feet propped up to help lessen swelling/inflammation.
