I was so bored I literally couldn't finish the film. It had nothing to do with things being cut, and everything to do with the performance of the actors, which was as dull as watching paint dry.

I was totally confused watching this in the theater after the beach scene but I've never read the book.

I saw two movies that day and I have to give the one after credit, that confused me far more than Wrinkle In Time and that was an "original" movie.

What was the other movie?

The Hurricane Heist.

It's been eight months and I'm still confused.

I thought it was okay. Not the best adaption. But I loved the casting choices they made. It was nice to see a cast that wasn't all white and that they made the Murray's a bi-racial couple.

they cut out a lot of the best parts and I've already made it clear about my feelings about the appearance issues. I liked the racial diversity but that was about the only thing I liked.

As someone who read and loved the books as a kid, I honestly did not hate it. I haven't read the books in years, but everything that did show up gave me a sense of nostalgia, so I basically had a good time with it

Yes! I was just thinking about this, because I finished the book today. The book is SO WEIRD, & now that I know the source material, I appreciate the movie a lot more. Even without the eyeless tentacle aliens.

It's clear to me now, though it took a few re-reads to really grok this, that L'Engle intended Camazotz to be based on the USSR, with the insistence on IT of regulating every aspect of behavior and of expanding into other parts of the galazy.

I was a little disappointed to see that the trailer "ant traversal shortcut" apparently did not make it into the movie proper, but that's what DVD and Bluray deleted scenes are for. :P

The USSR, or totalitarianism more generally?
