I haven't seen the Last Jedi yet so I don't have any strong opinion on this ship. My guess is that it's because Kylo is a very bad guy (some say he's a space nazi). But the shippers could like the idea of a redemption arc where he joins the light helped by his love for Rey or of dark fics where Rey turn to the dark side. Or maybe they ship Finn/Rey (I do).

Well, he is a space nazi, and one of those guys who starts off the party complaining about his relationship with is parents, and ends it by screaming at the hostess and punching a hole in the drywall.

But these days, problematic ships are now a social justice issue and virtually yelling at shippers what passes for activism on tumblr. Antis who really care about those issues would do better shutting the fuck up and writing a check.

AYRF : I see. There're legitimate form of activism on tumblr. But the whole debate about if ships have or haven't an influence on the mindset of people about real life issues and their reactions to them could be a lot deeper (it would involve a discussion about art and would necessite actual tangible data collected from several legitimate, controlled, experiences). I tend to think people are able to make the difference with what is okay in fictionn because no one is actually hurt, and what shouldn't be encouraged in real life. So Reylo, probably not to my taste but I'm cool with the shippers.

Antis don't actually do anything to support me as a survivor of relationship violence, they just blur the lines such that I'm likely to be brigaded if I don't write about it with the right kind of tone or disclaimers.

AYRT : That's really not cool. I'm sorry.
