How was everyone's Monday? Or weekend?

My cat managed to get out into the garage while I was trying to bring in some soup from the outdoor fridge. Took me almost an hour to get her to come in because she hid under the car. It was freezing out there, so not sure why she even wanted to be out there.

Took our cats to the vet, just for their annual check-up. They did better than I thought - my boy who is the self-appointed and semi-feral prince of the house turns into a scaredy-cat mommy's boy at the vet, but he did a really good job during his appointment, was patient and gentle while the vet checked him out. And my obese grumpy cat has lost a pound since her last appointment after hard dieting, so yay!

The only thing I bought in the spirit of cyber Monday was new cat carriers, but I don't even think they were being sold on a special deal. Oh well.

I worked, switched shifts with a co-worker so she could take care of some business. She's working my Wednesday shift in return, so I have Tuesday and Wednesday off.

Got up early assuming I would have to shovel snow, but instead found the steps and sidewalk were covered in a thin but slippery sheet of ice. I threw down done salt and hopped for the best. The roads were surprisingly fine so I got to work early.

Worked at the daycare for most of the day, came home and took a nap, and then later went out to watch a Lifetime movie from 1998 in theatres with my mom. Pretty good day, all in all.

So much spam email! Otherwise Black Friday and cyber Monday are normal days for me. I do all my crimbo shopping in the summer.

I did a little shopping but no special discounts that I can remember. Mostly I worked. I have tomorrow off so I'm going to be playing Pokemon Let's Go! Eevee because it's actually pretty fun, for me anyway.

I have discovered a misunderstanding which leaves me at a substantial disadvantage.
I have been helping my brother's mother-in-law with various household chores, doing her shopping, and bringing around meals every few days. I was initially doing this for free, but in the face of this arrangement lasting for several months, I was promised payment. (No sort of contract was made, I don't think any of it was even written down anywhere)
I thought I was being promised $x per week. I was actually being promised $x per month. Which is a bit of a pain in the arse - I was really hoping I could pay my rent early, and pay for a tank or two instead of sponging off my mum.
I feel mad, and I feel guilty about feeling mad that I'm not being paid enough to help a sick old lady with her laundry, and I feel cross at myself for not getting any of this in writing, and basically it's not been a great day.

But after all that I got to hang out with a friend for a few hours and we watched TV and ate chips, so that was nice.

You have nothing to feel guilty about. Just because it's a "nice thing" to do doesn't mean you don't deserve to get paid, or that you don't deserve to get paid a reasonable amount.

I had a problem with a temporary job where I was supposed to go help this woman every morning, and it turned out she wanted me to come twice a day. And technically I didn't have to come twice a day so she didn't pay me any extra. As it happens I was earning decent money and it was only a couple of weeks, but it still kind of pissed me off.

I worked and listened to a very mediocre Wolverine audiodrama, and then I finished work and ate dinner and stuff. Thrilling adventures.

The long weekend was pretty good, I got to relax a lot, so that was nice.

Monday was kind of crazy, I had a lot of stuff to do and am just now finishing up some work. It's after 4 AM but there's nothing I have to do tomorrow (well, today now) and I'm not super tired so I think I'm going to go watch a couple shows I DVRed before finally going to bed.

Does Cyber Monday deals last past today?
I knew I needed to buy most of my presents today, but I just got so overwhelmed that I just didn't do it... I have never in my life been so unprepared for the holidays, and I'm not sure what to make of it.
To top it all off, we have a postal strike going on... Even ordering my items on a good year might not have them be delivered in time for Christmas- I feel like I'm screwed. The few gifts I know I need to buy I keep putting off, and I'm at such a loss otherwise I just don't know what to do...

I'm usually so good at this. I know what everyone wants, and have it prepared all in advance. I feel like I'm going to let everyone down this year, since more often than not I'm the only one who puts such an effort in the holidays... People tell me how much it means to them with how much I try- but this year... I just have nothing... I hate it...
