What is this and why would this be frowned upon? I'm pretty sure I've seen people posting kink ideas like this on tumblr recently so I'm not sure what's inflammatory here.

That's Chris Colfer, who was Kurt Hummel on Glee. In the current fandom climate, anything that could be interpreted as sexualising a minor can be... fraught. Even though the actor was 19 when Glee started, and he's 20 now, so w/e.

Just this year - "If you ship Shuri with M'Baku you're supporting paedophilia because she's a Minor^TM!!! Even if the actress is 25 and her age is never mentioned in the film!!!"
Seriously, it came up on FS a few months back.

I've seen this argument with literally anyone who isn't Peter Parker as the other half of the pairing, and once I realized that, it was so much easier to treat it as the shipping wank it is. ^~^

Some people are VERY weird about age gaps even if the pairing is two consenting adults. It's absolutely fucking ridiculous on Tumblr.

And some people are uncomfortable with stereotypical bear and/or twink imagery, or with anything that could be interpreted as dubcon or noncon.
