The problem is by book 5, we're deeply into the Hero's Journey and any idea that Harry should be protected for his "own" good and "So he can have a childhood" is so ridiculous, Molly comes off as an abusive parent rather than lovingly protective. Her idea is fine for books 1 and 2 maybe. Harry is up to his neck in the war. Voldemort is gunning for him. He's fifteen. You start thinking about survival rather than "they're children." Molly is frankly an IDIOT at this point.

Sirius and Arthur wanted to inform/train Harry and the others to protect themselves. War is not a regarder of persons. Watch The Incredibles and listen to Mrs. Incredible's speech. That's the right way to do it. Not, whatever Molly was doing. It was unneeded Drama.

Especially since Harry had "heeded the call" and had gone through the damn swamp and faced his fears (Voldemort) and next was betrayal and failure. Which the ministry plot SORT OF did. Just not well. The stakes were too low. (Stakes are very important.)

Now, Sirius probably wouldn't have been the best dad. Uncle would be better. If he had Arthur and Remus helping, he could have done it. But Arthur won't stand up to Molly soooo. Babies can really change people if they aren't completely selfish narcissists.
