See, I don't think she looks like a boy, I think she looks twelve. The 80s version made them all look way too old (and sexualized), but it's like this version went too far in the other direction and it's just as jarring. I just can't take the characters seriously when most of them look like they're in sixth grade. I don't want fictional teenagers to look like sexy adults but I don't want them to look like prepubescent children, either. There's a happy medium.

In contrast, here are two examples of athletic, non-sexualized teenage girls who actually LOOK like teenage girls:

They're clearly not full-grown adults but they're also clearly not children either. I could buy them doing the things that the characters in She-Ra do because they look old enough to be doing it. But the She-Ra characters... I just keep looking at the art and my brain parses them as being preteens and it's just really awkward and off-putting.
