I personally don't really like images in fic, for just that reason.

Images in fic just get in the way for me. I'd rather appreciate fanart separately from the fic.

I was reading a fic I enjoyed a few weeks ago, and was rather put off by some frankly ugly art about halfway through
So it's a bit of a gamble, I think

Me too, OP. I'm also disappointed when the author just gives links to the images in the notes and they're gone.

I hate images in fic. Link to a separate post is the way to go, imo.
