What is something you don't see in media these days?

Re: What is something you don't see in media these days?
(Anonymous) 2018-11-29 01:00 am (UTC)(link)It's funny because I actually prefer the more serious sitcoms and dramedies, but part of me does miss shows like Parks and Recreation and FRIENDS. These are pretty intense times, so maybe it's harder for me in some ways to imagine a world without any real stakes, but it's also a nice fantasy for half an hour.
Re: What is something you don't see in media these days?
(Anonymous) 2018-11-29 01:03 am (UTC)(link)(but also, there's a lot of sitcoms that I don't watch and it's entirely possible that some of them actually are as fun and fancy-free as I'd want them to be)

(Anonymous) 2018-11-29 01:03 am (UTC)(link)montages are so good and so fundamentally cinematic and everyone should use them way more
Re: What is something you don't see in media these days?
(Anonymous) 2018-11-29 03:36 am (UTC)(link)The first thing that springs to mind is the montage in the first (or maybe second?) episode of Mindhunter, where Holden and Bill are traveling around America teaching cops. It's such a sharp, stylish, well-placed montage that makes the story and the relationship between the characters feel lived in, in a way nothing else could have.

Re: What is something you don't see in media these days?
(Anonymous) 2018-11-29 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)Just in general, shows that embrace campy fun stories and styles just because they can (Xena, Lois & Clark, Moonlighting, Buffy, etc).
