oh GOD I forgot about that travesty. I mean, there's pretty much no way this will be good but... wow now I'm worried.

I thought it was entertaining enough as a movie. The casting for L in particular was brilliant, he really nailed the role and made it his own. It wasn't exactly like the manga but it was never supposed to be, it was supposed to be an adaptation. It did a decent job of condensing the entire story down into about two hours.

The guy playing L and Willem Dafoe as Ryuk made the movie worth watching. Ooh, and that ferris wheel scene.
