113. Oh man, Jojo sure knows how to kill it's heroes, don't it? Still, they are so awesome in life (and helpful according to secret!) that you can't really be mad at the author, when all he did was make you care about those oddballs enough to make it hurt when he wacks them.

117. Darnit, art looks so familiar... what canon is it, and whose the artist?

131. Oho, name of canon please? Is it a game, or some CG-animated show?

134. I still think that flag... well, I wouldn't ever CHOOSE it as a flag, but dammit just the mere fact that it made headlines is just so very, very awesome.

159. The Gurren Brigade fought for their basic right to simply live and procreate in peace, something that many in this day and age also do. Perhaps fighting for them would be an idea?

163. Now I'm imagining that man as part of those traumatized people in cyborg-outfits in the fourth game. Traumatized athletes who have nowhere else to turn but to war... heck, it's not the weirdest that could happen in MGS-verse!

175. Snap, I think I must agree. The only way it could be more epic is if the lemur is actually his monkey-ancestor from ancient times and now he has to protect him from assassins while dodging flung doodoo. That would be epic.

131. It's Neverwinter Nights 2, a computer role-playing game from Obsidian. The pic is taken from the introductory trailer, so it isn't a reflection of the actual in-game graphics. (Which are pretty, but terribly system-hogging.)

Very few hero deaths in the Jojo saga haven't been impacting in one way or another. Another good example was Kakyoin, whose death literally brought me to tears.

Re 163 - ARE YOU READY FOR METAL GEAR ENCYCLOPAEDIA HOUR

[identity profile] fireholly.livejournal.com 2008-08-26 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
It did happen, although only in the retconned-to-hell early games. In Metal Gear 2, the boss Running Man was an Olympic sprinter who was stripped of his competition rights for doping, so he hooked up with a band of French mercenaries (where, presumably, he could dope all he wanted). Since the French mercenary band was given the same name as something else later in the canon, though, I'm not sure how canon that is any more.

Anyway, his superpower is that he runs around fast. Also poison gas.

Oh yeah, and there's another one. Natasha Markova/Gustava Heffner (depending on which version you're playing) was a beautiful Olympic figure skater called The Fairy On Ice (Snake recognises her and tells her all about the Gold medals she won and junk because Snake's a women's figure skating fan or something what the hell Snake) who had a relationship with a man from the West but didn't manage to get into the country to marry him. So she joins the STB.

You don't get to fight her, but her superpower is that she has the worst dying monologue in the whole series ever. It's so dreadful I find it more distracting than the poison Zanzibar hamsters.
