Do you still buy advent calendars?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-30 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
And if yes what kind? Chocolate, Lego, etc?

To be honest, I'd probably just end up eating the chocolate immediately so I might as well just buy a chocolate bar in the first place

Nope. but we have a family one. Don't know if we're doing it this year. But there would always be candy canes or something small like that in each day. I love candy canes.

I don't think I ever have.

Never did them as a kid because my parents didn't approve of giving us candy. As an adult, I'm an atheist and it feels kind of pointless.

Idk that my family ever really did. Maybe once or twice, but it was never a big thing.

My boss bought his son-in-law/my friend a Whisky Advent "Calendar."

I'd really like to try out that wine calendar. But as for traditional ones, nah.

Yep. I get a chocolate truffle one from Aldi every year.

Sometimes I see fancy, expensive ones I'd like to get (mostly involving beauty products), but it just wouldn't feel the same to buy one for myself (to me advent calendars are a gift item), and I'd feel pretty guilty asking my father to buy me one. He might do it, because he's generous af, but I wouldn't ask, because I think he's too generous for his own good.

I never knew there was any kind of advent calender other than chocolate:; I have allergies, so my aunt stitched me a calender once when I was young. I'll always dust it off for the holidays, just to remember her by, I'll put random candy/trinkets in the pouches so I have something to find when I open them.
Even though I know what I'm going to find, I still love the tradition of opening a new thing every day;;
