What did you like about it?

Hawai'i. I think specifically Maui.

It was so cool being able to walk around this crowded city. We could walk to the mall from our hotel! We got on a bus and rode through Chinatown! we could see those weird hotels that only have one tiny door you have to walk down steps to get into the lobby!

Hawaii is definitely a place I want to go to eventually.

Washington DC. There is SOOOOO much free stuff to do, which is great when vacationing on a budget. Also, the public transportation was great and I never felt unsafe.

I think all my top picks are popular summer spots during the off season. Everything is cheaper, they're well set up for tourists to navigate, the locals are friendly. Plus if you're used to the cold then a tropical winter is still warm enough for swimming some of the time and you won't get as sunburnt.

Vanuatu was lovely and we got a very nice place to stay that we wouldn't have been able to afford otherwise.

France. Delicious food, Paris was neat and easy to get around in, I loved all the museums I visited. Just walking around various neighborhoods and stumbling upon street markets was really interesting and fun, even if I didn't buy anything.

I just love Paris. I love being there.

Nothing beats the beach vacations we used to take in the Philippines. There was this one place we would go to that had amazing mango shakes and also had a hammock on the edge of the property, looking out over the beach. I used to spend hours in that hammock with a shake, a book, and a cd player.

South Africa. We went several times while Nelson Mandela was president. I loved the all-pervading sense of hope, the beautiful landscape, the amazing plants and animals. It was a time that can't be revisited.

Belgium.

The thing I liked best was how long I got to stay. I studied abroad, so I was there for about a month, though I did spend two weekends during that month elsewhere; one in Amsterdam and one in Paris.

Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. I stayed at a resort there and it was awesome. The resort staff was really easy going, they had a nice pool and a nice beach, and there were all sorts of watersports activities you could do. Plus they had a restaurant right on the beach as well, which was great if you wanted to just sit there, with a drink in hand and stare out at the beautiful ocean. I'd definitely do it again.

Kauai hands down. Its a gorgeous place with amazing scenery and all the culture is fascinating plus there's sooooo much to do. It's a shame its so expensive to live there. If not for that and the fact you have to fly to get to the mainland or go on a boat well I'd consider living there.

This little town in Australia where my cousin lives. I don't want to name it because paranoia but I felt like that was where I saw beyond the marketing programmes and the rose tinted glasses of my grandmother remembering her childhood. It was interesting, lovely, horrifying at times but somehow....where I found a lot of answers I'd been holding.
