That's my main problem with that whole plotline, too. Especially since Holdo *had* the chance to explain, when the mutiny happened, to go "If I tell you what my plan is, will you put the blasters away?", but all she says is "You're making a mistake", with no further comments.

Even taking into account the formal reprimand and demotion, Poe is still too influential within the Resistance to accept something like that at face value, especially since he believes there's a traitor on board. Of course he was going to stage a coup, what was she or Leia expecting?

The scene after where they claim to be fond of Poe's headstrong nature honestly doesn't make up for it. I like the idea of it, of Leia and Holdo seeing potential in Poe, but it falls flat when they both ignored his legit concerns bc...conflict?

Yeah, during the time when Poe was throwing chairs around and Holdo had him ejected from the bridge, it would've felt more natural for her to say something like, "I have a plan, you ass, but you're clearly too unstable to be trusted with it," or something like that. She doesn't have to say what the plan is but he's clearly freaking out so it would be good leadership to offer reassurance that there is some kind of plan - not just for him but for anyone else who's feeling anxious about what's going on. Poe's outburst was clearly a sign of that anxiety that anyone could see, and the fact that she doesn't even say there is a plan felt very much like the writers had to keep the audience in the dark, not what Holdo or anyone would actually do.

Her not saying anything during the mutiny was what really bugged me. In order for her plan to work, she has to stay in charge and see it through, so allowing herself to be removed from command without at least saying "I have a plan" (even if she didn't say what it was) makes no sense. I felt like she was just behaving that way because the writers wanted me to think she might be a bad guy (but since she's written like that she probably wasn't).
