Where I live, it’s illegal to ride bikes on the sidewalk, and unlike the anon above me, I don’t think there’s an age limit. There’s one stretch of road with a bike lane but no wall or barrier between in and traffic where the speed limit is 45 mph and I almost died there a couple of times as a kid. I wish some kind of physical barrier between bike lanes and roads was required by law on roads with a speed limit over 25 mph.
