Lil Thread of Lil Annoyances

(Anonymous) 2018-12-04 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll go first.
So I directed a group of actors for a thing. Afterwards, everyone who's seen me act before, reacted with "... it's such a shame YOU didn't do anything in this show". Which... ... ... I mean, on the one hand, thanks for liking my acting, but on the other, DAMNIT, I worked my ASS off scheduling, directing, rehearsing and vocal coaching. That's not nothing. A lil' acknowlegement of that contribution to the evening's success would've been nice.

People who order multiple drinks in line at Starbucks. I'm talking more than 3. That's why there's a damn app, so you can order in advance and pick it up without holding up the line of ppl who only want one damn coffee. This is especially irritating in the morning when lots of us are strapped for time, and your dumb ass is up there reading off a list of eight+ drinks for your office.

I know this is 'little annoyances' so don't feel like I'm attacking, but I don't understand this? I mean yeah the pre-order apps are great for any place, but I always saw it as more of a convenience thing for the person picking the stuff up, not the other people in line. I mean, it's rush hour coffee, you know the line's going to be long, adjust your time accordingly? Either way, the shop still has to make those eight coffees?

The one would be a lot less long if eight+ drink orderer would get the damn app.

The LINE would be a lot less long, that is.

But... the drinks are still getting made for that person? I mean... they're still in line in a sense?

I just find Starbucks kind of annoying. I'd rather go to an indie cafe, they have more character.

yes yes of course you would

I kinda get this and I do order ahead when I'm getting more than three drinks ('cause it's a pain in the butt to remember everyone's orders and rattle them off while in line), but I dunno man, that person who ordered those eight drinks on the app still has to get their drinks made and you're still gonna have to wait a bit because their order came in before yours.

Re: Lil Thread of Lil Annoyances

(Anonymous) 2018-12-05 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but if someone uses the app to order ahead, the barista can make those eight coffees in-between making the coffees for all of the people who are currently in the line. If someone comes through the line and orders eight coffees and is standing there waiting for them then those eight coffees all need to be made right NOW as opposed to gradually.

This is my biggest pet peeve. There's nothing worse than getting in line on your break to grab a quick coffee and then the guy in front of you is ordering for his entire fucking office.

USE. THE. GODDAMN. APP.

Sorry. I only recently got a smart phone, and I don't get much data on it, so I don't use the app. that being said, I always use the drive-through. But I think there must be others like me who can't use the app for one reason or another.

The fact the tree trimming guy has left his truck parked in front my house for two days now. Is it mine?? Is that my gift for paying him $700 to trim and cut down a tree?

Obligatory office merriment and deadlines.

DA but, see also, obligatory office caring. Signing birthday cards and baby shower cards, and condolence cards (for people I didn't even know were previously alive!).

I do like and get along with most of the people I work with because they're all really sweet, but office parties make me feel really awkward and I always end up making bizarre small talk that makes people look at me weird. I'd honestly just rather get a half day than an office party.

I like merriment, I like most of my co-workers, and I can deal with deadlines. I just can't deal with deadlines moved into afternoons where I'm expected not to work on them.

Job listings that want a cover letter but keep the business name secret. How the fuck am I going to tell you how well I'd fit in at Insert-Name-Here if I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE????

Job listings that don't include the name of someone to send them too (especially when their websites don't make that clear either). Impersonal addresses on resumes are frowned on. I'd like an actual name, please.

I'm never the one ordering multiple drinks at Starbucks, but some of us are Luddite fuddy-duddies and will not be using the app, sorry.

It kind of blows my mind that people could think a DIRECTOR doesn't contribute to a production of any kind.
