I don't find it charming, but I do find it realistic. That dreaded word, I know.

I don’t mind realism but this was an aspect I could’ve gone without tbh. Because first you have the love triangle amongst the Nancy, then you have the hinted at love plot with the Joyce and two guys, then we have the two boys fighting over Max, and finally we have eleven who was mostly unattached but oh noes now she’s jealous of Max!!! When all your female characters are tied up into some poorly written love interest bs it’s reallllly tiring.

I'm not even watching the latest season yet but now I'm annoyed because of IRL stuff.

The "drama" that ensues in fiction when girls are added to a group of boys (of any age) is why you get bullshit like women in the military or collegiate clubs being discriminated against because it "ruins group cohesion."

nayrt but I think it's a useful distinction to draw and I'm glad you did it. I'm surprised by how often the opinion of "I don't like it" is met with "But but but it's realistic!" A lot of people don't seem to understand that there are different degrees of realism that people enjoy in their media, and just because something is realistic doesn't make it enjoyable for everyone.
