130. I think I love your style. If anyone did that with my stories, I would be impressed as all hell they took the time and effort!
131. Drosselmeyer is an interesting character, in and of himself. I don't think you need to be a writer to relate to his issues or wishes.

Regarding 130
You wouldn't if they "changed the title and reposted it", with the implication that they also didn't credit the original author for the original version of the story they remade. That there is called "story-stealing". That there is unethical and probably illegal, fanfic or not (a fanfic writer still gets limited copyright over their work, even if it is subject to the original story's creator's whims as to whether they can distribute it or not, and even if the thing they wrote it based on is public domain. Just because it's a fanfic doesn't mean that you can rip it off, rewrite it a little, and call it your own).
And you certainly wouldn't like it if they came to you anonymously and told you they'd done this and then acted like a dick (since the guy said he's only "sometimes", ahem, "nice" to them about it, whereas "sometimes he's not").
Would I like detailed constructive criticism detailing things that seemed "off" or awkward about characters, dialogue, plot, let alone grammar and spelling corrections? Hell yes! That's a good way to learn what might need fixing, a way to improve.
But rewriting the story without my permission, reposting it under a different name and then being a douche to me? WTF? Why would I - or anyone else - find that at all "impressive"? It's impressively dickwadish, is what it is. The asshole really cares about making stories good? Then he should actually give constructive criticism in review form and start a dialogue with the fic's author, or offer to beta-read. Not rip the story off, edit it a little, change the name and repost it as if it were his. Not harass the authors.
Otherwise, he's just trolling, and stealing stories - all anonymously, as he's very keen on pointing out. Which means he's also too cowardly to put his name on it when he does it. Doesn't matter if he personally thinks he's improved them. Stealing and trolling? Are stealing and trolling, no matter how good you are at editing. I hope he gets caught and booted off of whatever site he's doing this on.
In return, regarding 130
The part I agreed with was taking a story, editing it, and then sending it to the author. That was, and still is, the only part I agreed with. I don't spend much time thinking about responses on F!S, particularly since I give it all a cursory glance in the first place.
With you, I agree taking other people's work and posting it back up, only edited, is bullshit. Spend the time writing for yourself, because that is the wrong way of letting people know where they can stand to improve. No, I do not respect, and do not wish, for people to prance around riding high horses showing non-existent credentials for why they are asshats.
No, I don't find that "style" impressive. I'm surprised, perhaps in a good way, you felt so strongly as to reply to an offhand comment such as mine, and I apologize that I was so vague in describing what I did like, of this "style" that the OP engages in. Like you say, I "like" the editing. And that is it. The rest is inviting wank, and so be it, if that is what OP wants, but I don't think that is behavior to be lauded. Again, apologies I didn't think about how my response sounded before posting it after a browsing of this community. =)
