As someone who pretty much solely watched the movies growing up, I could never understand how she even had fans in the first place. I've always felt like recasting her would've helped, since a lot of it seemed to be the actress not knowing how to express any kind of emotion (other than the times she came across as vaguely creepy, I guess)?

The character in the books is funny, and blunt, and smart, and just generally the fandom would be a lot different if everyone in the world didn't automatically assume that movie versions always win

I've heard that, thankfully! For me, it wasn't that I thought the movie versions were superior, I just didn't care enough about the series to read more than the 1st & 3rd books (both of which I borrowed from a friend). But the fandom was impossible to miss, so I still witnessed a lot of the drama/popular opinions.

nah the book version is boring as hell and just a list of cool sounding traits doesn't make a good character

I hope when they inevitably make the Cursed Child movies they recast Ginny. I never believed the actress who played her genuinely had fans, it was bluster and bullshit to hit back at anti-Harry/Ginny people and Ginny haters.

Didn't like her in the books, didn't like her in the movies... Just didn't like her at all. As soon as I realized that she was being set up to be Harry's LI (book two, maybe?) I was annoyed and kept hoping that I was wrong. She was just...boring. I actually felt like Ron/Hermione was fairly well done, although that didn't change the fact that I didn't particularly feel like Ron deserved her anyway.

I find the character insufferable in the books, and forgettable in the movies, so it'd be hard to write a fic that I wouldn't prefer to canon, tbh.
