Bones - I completely agree. He was always right and she always had a lesson to learn...well, more often than not I agreed with her and I thought he was a narrow-minded dick most of the time.

I stopped watching when she got pregnant. I have no interest in baby story lines.

I agree with the "Booth is always right & Bones always has a lesson to learn" criticism. That always annoyed me too.

I agree with this so hard. I mean, Brennan was never an all-time favorite character of mine, but I related to her and I had a real soft spot for her, and the show did not do right by her at all.

Actually, thinking back, I think the point where I rage-quit the show was the beginning of S6, when everyone was blaming Brennan and acting like she'd done something horrible and selfish for leaving to go...do whatever profession-based thing she was doing - i can't remember, it's been ages. That just infuriated me, and seemed to bode really badly for the future. The whole, "HDU choose to do something based on your career and what you need for yourself right now! The team is like a family and you abandoned your family, you cold shrew!"

Man, so much this.
I mean, I quit watching pretty early on - whenever the whole stupid 'Zack and the serial killer' bullshite happened. But even before that, Booth was always way too smug and overbearing, and everybody always seemed to be picking and pushing and bullying Brennen about how she needed to be 'more normal'. Blech.

I really hated Booth's Xian bullshite. Omg.

I had to restart the show twice because Brennan was so obviously set up as a straw-atheist, in ways that were inexplicably incongruous with her supposed expertise as an anthropologist.

Oh yes. He was "anything but vanilla sex is bad", "abortions are bad", "blah blah bad" and yet he'd had a child out of wedlock so fuck him.

Yes. It always felt like 'aw we need to teach her to be human' and ....I am very like her. No, you just need to learn to understand her you gits. And hard agree the kid just....it was a different character and no.

I tried to watch this show and I just couldn't stand Booth being such a condescending, smug prick to everyone

You're a grown man, stop calling everyone nerds when they are helping you out and act interested in things having to do with their jobs

I was so put off by that! I had already kind of broken up with the show in my heart based on other things, but her going from being staunchly child-free to having a baby at ALL, let alone then being more maternal, felt like such a betrayal of the character to me. (Other shows write around a pregnant actress when they don't want to write a pregnant character, just saying-- or she could have agreed to be someone's surrogate if they didn't want to shoot around it, and still not wanted children for herself)

As a child-free person-with-a-uterus, nothing really turns me off faster than every woman having to have a 'oh but I DO want a baby' story?? I like those stories when it makes sense for the character to want that, just like I support friends and relatives who have or want kids, but it's okay to not want them.
