I really enjoyed season 1. Season 2... well, it had issues. I wouldn't recommend it for someone with depression or someone who struggles to watch other people spiral. It had writing and pacing issues as well.

I liked S2 as much or more than S1, but it's definitely not a happy fun time, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with not watching something if you think you might regret it afterwards. Honestly, you don't even need a reason. It's nice to support good shows when you can, but it's a show and you're a person; you very clearly come first.

I loved S2 - it moves Jess's story to a more complicated-relations-between-women focus, which I thought was a good theme shift instead of rehashing jess-vs-toxic-masculinity with some more watered down version that wasn't as horrifying as or impactful Kilgrave. And I thought it was really good storytelling in the same reluctant-escalation mode. But it's still absolutely gutting, so yeah, hold off until you're in a better place.

This is really well articulated. I'd never quite put this into words about S2, but it's spot on, and definitely a big part of what I thought the writers did right with S2. After S1 they were in a delicate position where it would've been really easy to go back to a well that wouldn't work a second time, but they maneuvered the show really deftly to keep it fresh and keep it moving, while still feeling very true to the characters and to what the story is about.

I honestly couldn't even make it through season 1. I tried twice but it was just too depressing for me. Amazingly well acted, but too depressing.

I couldn't make it through season one because the ongoing plot required her to be an idiot. She had the bad guy in her sights, literally, and didn't take the shot. She knows she needs to stop him before he does bad stuff to her or worse to someone else, but she pulls the dumbass move of not doing a damn thing.

I actively started rooting for the bad guy until I quit watching

I wish there was a show where I could still watch Krysten Ritter be badass and wear leather jackets and hot and not also get horribly depressed

Well, I loved the first season too but the second was nothing but horrifically awful, so you're not missing much.

The moment the wig comes off all it does is keep going downhill until it dissolves into a bunch of soap opera bullshit, so... yeah. It managed to disappoint me in basically every way. Might even be better off watching Iron Fist, tbh.

I loved season 1. But it's not the kind of thing I could watch regularly, just because of the intensity. I couldn't even binge watch it all in one go.
