He's not really my favorite, either. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed his standalone movie, though.

I surprisingly enjoyed it too, but only if I thought of it as a character that weirdly had the same name and not as a prequel, because I didn't buy any of it as an "origin" story for Han. It was still a fun enough movie.

Yeah, didn't hate or love him. I feel like I'm in the minority in disliking all of the underworld elements of Star Wars. I don't care about Boba Fett or Aurra Sing or Cad Bane or Hondo or any of it, and it feels like they're making a lot of content geared towards that.

I like Han a little better than the other underworld characters but it seems like all the new content gets rid of the good stuff and leans into what they *think* makes him cool, and not what was actually interesting about him.

I agree with you completely.

You're not alone OP!

I never hated him or anything, but he's my least fav from the orginal movies. I sometimes fantasize about how what could have been if that emergency plan of Lando replacing him had happened. (I do love Lando oddly enough, who seems to have been the same archetype)

I actually think him going back to smuggling and not being the ideal husband/father is actually the most interesting that character has ever been.

I never heard of a plan for Lando replacing him. Lando was my favourite OT character. That would have been AMAZING.

I think he's only broadly the same archetype as Han. They're both the morally ambiguous rogues, yes, but Lando's ESB plot brought in a bunch of other elements for him, most prominently politician and reluctant traitor with responsibility for a whole city. Han was your roaming thief model rogue, and Lando was your shady businessman/politician/gambler model rogue. Han's arc was choosing not to run away, and Lando's was being forced to choose between loyalties/responsibilities. Broadly similiar archetypes, but different plots and different emotional beats.

Also Lando dressed significantly better ;)

He's probably my favorite character from the original movies but a) I'm not a huge fan of SW to begin with and b) that's 90% due to Harrison Ford and only 10% to Han Solo.

I like Harrison Ford so

He's my favourite of the original series. I have hots for antiheroes. He did the antihero thing perfectly and I think he'd always have been a rulebreaker but not the whole "him and Leia split up despite how well suited and in love we showed you and he's just roaming around smuggling" in the new movies.
