How other people cook their steak.

I mean, unless they're serving it to me. Though I'd still be polite (if a bit sad) if someone served me a well done steak.

I agree. I don't gaf how anyone else likes their own damn steak cooked or if they eat it with sauce or not.

I know! Why the fuck do chefs scorn well-done steak?!

* Because it's harder to do without drying it out and ending up with a tough, bland cut of meat and risking complaints from the very same customer who ordered it.

* Because some prime cuts like ribeye, porterhouse, etc. are better suited to medium rare (at most) and they feel it's a waste of a good piece of steak to cook it further.

* Because ordering a steak well done is, unfortunately, something that's common in unadventurous, uncultured diners and this is a red flag that they might be a problem customer.

Obviously by all means people should order what they prefer. But chefs do have legit reasons for why they cringe when someone orders a well done steak.

This is why I don't understand why anyone would want their steak well done. Why do you WANT to cook it in a way that generally makes it dry and tough and not very good?

Some people are really squeamish about blood, which is fine. But steak is not the greatest choice if you prefer your beef well done. For that, you can't beat a good pot roast, falling apart in rich gravy!

I'm conflicted, because of course I don't really have a problem with it, but I do kind of want to mock the president about it
