Why?

they waited a long time, have multiple prompts that aren't sparking any creativity with them, and they're asking for help on fandom secrets like that will somehow make it easier or faster for them. if the juices are not flowing, throw in the towel when it's not too late for someone else to actually fix this.

I'm completely with you on this one. I stopped doing Yuletide because three years running I got nothing. Two of those I didn't even get a pinch-hit or a treat or anything. How is an exchange any fun if you're not going to actually put up and write the fucking thing? Don't take it on if you're not going to do it!

The only way you'd get nothing if you actually signed up would be if you defaulted, so that's your own fault.

No? I got bad luck of the draw and kept getting first-timers that floundered/ghosted and didn't default, so I literally got nothing. One time I did get a treat from someone completely different, but the other two years it was tough cookies. They weren't allowed to participate the following year, which is good, but I still got the short end. My gifts went out on time just fine.

People who ghost are auto-defaulted at the submission deadline and their assigned recipients go out as pinch hits if they haven't also defaulted, so this sounds fake as hell to me.
