every customer who walks into our shop and bitches that it takes forty minutes to get through to the customer service phone lines (and expects the store to have access to a line that gets answered in three seconds)

it's the middle of retail peak, what do you expect

Retail employee here too. Shame on people who get all snappy and passive-aggressive when I tell them, “Sorry we don’t have this tree/toy in stock.”
