Re: Things people say that drive you nuts

I understand this. I'm 31, and the way people talk to me can sometimes really piss me off. People (especially men, but also sometimes women) can be so patronizing and condescending. They talk to me like I don't know my own mind, and don't understand the complexities of life, or something. Like I probably haven't really thought much about any of the complicated, adult things they think about. Women tend to be better about correcting themselves once they find out I'm 31 not 21, but men (excluding gay men, who are generally really good about not doing this) tend to default to talking to me as though I were the age I look, not the age I am.

My workplace is mainly women and the ones on the much older side are very “bless your heart” condescending when I express my opinions or give them suggestions. It’s so hard to be polite and professional when they treat me like a kid and don’t speak to me like an adult.
