"Lemon" was never a thing in my fandoms (not that I'm against the term or anything), but I do miss "smut biscuit."

I confess I regularly use kibosh. I wish I used great googly moogly more but I tend to default to fuck instead.

They are all just fun to say. I think I've used kibosh once, but I should use it more.

Aw man, I cannot hear that phrase without being instantly reminded of my undying hatred of 'Maggie and the Ferocious Beast'... Those damn galoshes- I am so mad!! Aughh!!!

I've always thought "the bee's knees" was a neat phrase to describe something cool.

whenever we pass a cop car, we go 'jeepers, it's the cops! we've been snookered!' which is something everyone should say imo

Okay- maybe not technically an old timey phrase, but calling a non-alcoholic drink 'unleaded'.
Where I live, it's called a 'virgin'. I just hate the term so much I've honestly ordered 'leaded' beverages that I actually hate the taste alcohol gives to them, just because I don't want to say the word...
Basically I don't order Strawberry Daiquiris anymore, and would rather sulk and drink coke, so I can keep avoiding calling it that...

Re: What old-timey slang should we bring back?

(Anonymous) 2018-12-12 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
This sounds like something you need help with. Virgin is just a word, and if your aversion to it leads you to buying drinks you don’t like, buying shitty olive oil, paying too much for airfare, etc., then you are letting a word have too much power over your life.

Re: What old-timey slang should we bring back?

(Anonymous) 2018-12-12 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, I tend to phrase things more severe then I mean them;; Meaning, I don't actually have an adversion to the word virgin in an every day context. Olive oil, airfare, cell phones- I really don't care.
But for some reason the term virgin when it comes to alcohol, I just don't like. I've always been particular with the context of words since I was young, so most of my reluctance comes from a childhood opinion I can't quite shake...

Ehh- and given I literally drink less now in days because I'd rather call a non-alcoholic beverage something other then 'virgin', is probably the lesser of my problems I need to deal with, in my opinion...

/plus, I always just thought 'unleaded' sounded just so much better;;'
