But ITA that you can't find *anything* in the fandom BUT Jack/Nathan, slash OR het. (Nathan/Ali anyone? Jo/Zane? Fargo/Nathan?)

I can see the I'll-screw-anything-that-moves!Stark working in a Nathan/Zoe fic. It's not my take on the character, but I can see it from here.

I ship Fargo with half the cast, but then I loves me some Fargo. Really fucked-up power-trippy Fargo/Stark is yummy, yummy stuff, but almost no one writes it and even fewer write it well.

128: Mostly agree with you there. Jack is a Galactic-conman-slut from the 51st century. However, I do believe that the one person Jack loves most, and places above all else no matter what is the Doctor.

Of course, that's also a fucked up relationship, because it involves to totally fucked up men.

There's certainly something special about his relationship with the Doctor (I would go off into my thesis that it's really Jack/Nine, and that he doesn't really have that same relationship with Ten, he's just fooling himself, but the comment limit is too small), but it's not an exclusive sort of thing, IMHO. There can be something unique and powerful about a relationship without there being anything one-true-and-only about it.

There's definitely a difference between Jack's relationship with Nine and his relationship with Ten.

Of course, if Ten ever gets his head out of his arse about Rose, that might change, too.

My point with the the Doctor being Jack's one true whatever is that the Doctor is the ideal Jack always looks to, he's constantly looking for approval from the Doctor, and he'll drop EVERYTHING at a moment's notice to go help the Doctor.

Earth nearly just fell to pieces? Sorry guys, put it back together, this guy I've been stalking for over a century is back, gotta talk to him.

Daleks invading? You guys can handle it yourself, I'll just flit off with the one gun that works against them to go help this other guy.

I agree. It's a major character point that he doesn't abide by this whole monogamy thing. Dating Ianto hasn't stopped him from flirting with anything with two legs (including his own namesake!), and it certainly didn't stop him from dropping like a stone to go running after the Doctor. He's actually kind of a jerk: Full of sweet talk, but no consideration of Ianto's feelings, and absolutely no inclusion of Ianto's ideas in his plans.

Where fanon has gotten this idea of Ianto as being this super macho guy, I have no idea. It seems Ianto is crying like a girl into Jack's shoulder practically every other episode. And it took about half an hour for Jack to talk Ianto into completely forgiving him for abandoning him without a word for three months.

Ab-so-bloody-lute-ly.

Ianto lost me with the trifect of whinging and whining in Cyberwoman, Greeks Bearing Gifts and Countrycide and NOTHING in the 2nd series convinced me he is ANYTHING but a whiney, possessive, clinging loser. "Jack NEEDS me!" Yeah? Then why he is having hand sex with the real CJH and telling him, that there's NOBODY in his life.

Hence my 2nd second series ship-war with the J/I shippers, especially their arguement that Jack has "changed."

That was my FAVORITE part of the whole movie when I was a kid... I knew the whole song, and I wanted a harem costume sooooooo bad. After I turned Adult and picked up a copy for nostalgia's sake, I just sat back with a hand over my mouth, my eyes wide as saucers as I watched the scene... Man, I was one sheltered kid. *grin*
