Wrong. Stick to classics, classics are always good, unless you twist your definition of 'good' to 'books I personally enjoy'.

I think that wanting to enjoy the books I read is a reasonable goal, to be honest.

And I like classics, but that doesn't mean it's all I want to read.

wow, yeah, no.

so many "classics" may be well-written with enough symbolism to give english majors enough boners for a lifetime but that doesn't mean they're enjoyable. I fucking threw Dune across the room and don't even get me started on Brothers Karamozov.

Classics aren't the only good books though, and not all of them will be everyone's cup of tea. No one wants to struggle through a book that is "good" but not enjoyable to read. This elitist attitude isn't helpful.
