Entirely fair. Why shouldn't you want comments for something you wrote?

I've tried being the change in the past, to negligible results.* Reading and commenting only when I feel like it and focusing more on writing has made my fandom experience more enjoyable without negatively affecting the amount of comments I receive.

(*I feel like this could be different in a small fandom/sub-fandom. Been a couple of years since I've been in one, but I did have several reciprocal writer-reader relationship in my most recent one.)
