You'd think writers would understand the need for feedback but it seems not, just write and never bother to support others. You never heard professional authors who brag about never reading, or musicians who brag about never listening to music, yet fanfic these days is all about isolation, write but never expect or want feedback and certainly don't bother to give it.

I read and comment on fic in fandoms I don't write for. But even if I didn't, why should I force myself to do something I don't want to do (and I mean the reading, not the commenting -- that's not my issue), something that's going to derail my writing and make me feel bad? It took me a while to realize that I was happier NOT reading. All I want to do is write. As far as I know, there's no rule against that.
