The pokemon company's aware of the implications and they're real careful not to protray it in the anime anymore. Though they messed up in the first season.

Is that a screenshot from like a marketing SOP manual? Anyway, it absolutely sounds like the best option. I only watched the first season as a kid and I do remember several "Pokemon are food" references.

I am pretty sure the games are still blunt about Pokemon eating each other, especially in Pokedex data.

Yeah, a style guide got leaked awhile back.

And you're right about the games. Gen VII introduced Mareanie which canonically eats Corsola and there's a couple of other mentions of prey/predator relationships. It's weird to me that the games, which are the source canon, would still be pretty blunt about this sort of thing.
