I agree, I felt that way alot in highschool and I was never homeschooled and the reasons were simple 1. I wasnt treated very well in highschool due to being eccentric and 2. I was just a very spacey daydreaming kind of person to begin with. I kind of let myself be detached alot of occasions though I think cause of my distrust of people and distaste with my mundane reality. Now that I"m an adult however I feel like if I really wanna get out of here and BE part of the world I have to work for it. Work to try and connect with others (as an adult I came to the startling realization that I really actually love people and being around them, who knew?) and also to work on getting my degree and leaving my sleepy boring surroundings. It helped alot when I finally found a goal/career to pursue ^^ sorry for the long comment I just felt like sharing. Really alot of more people go through what the OP went through, then I think she/he really knows.

Exactly the same here! :DDDDD I used to be such an anti-social, daydreaming sod- my Dad took me to various groups and I just didn't make friends. I really regretted it when I was sixteen, though, and insisted on going to uni because I wanted that base of people I knew and liked. I mean, there's still me being a lazy sod and a tendency to become really anxious around others, so I still sabotage things for myself, but it's better. And everyone has something that they wish they could have improved upon, you know?
