Out of curiosity, does anyone here send snail mail anymore?

(Anonymous) 2018-12-18 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)We've had to teach students (college-age) how to address envelopes. They didn't know where to put the addresses or even what should go where in an address block. So I'm guessing they don't send snail mail... ever.

Re: Out of curiosity, does anyone here send snail mail anymore?
(Anonymous) 2018-12-19 12:13 am (UTC)(link)I used to send a lot of postcards and occasional letters and cards to my grandparents and great-uncle, because they really liked that (and my great-uncle's hearing was mostly shot, so calling him was kind of futile) but they are all dead now.
I have a shoe box of interesting postcards and greeting cards that I picked up over the years and would occasionally raid for stationary, but I've largely run dry of people to send them to. I still send postcards to my parents and brother when I travel sometimes, though.

Speaking of letters I've discovered that I can't write cursive anymore. I sat down and tried to compose a note in cursive and I couldn't remember how to do it. I can still sign my name but that's about it. It's embarrassing, but I guess I just lost the skill after not using it for so long.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-19 01:19 am (UTC)(link)I send a Christmas card or two every year, that's about it. But I get lots of packages when I shop online (which I try to do whenever possible bc it's just so much easier).

(Anonymous) 2018-12-19 11:42 am (UTC)(link)For christmas i also send out packages acros the country and the world.
i also noticed that priate mail arrives faster than deliveries. A package sent to a friend on the other end of the country usually arrives the next day (latest 2 days after) whereas delivery usually takes *at least* 2 business days.
