To me, it depends on how you're going about your dislike of the new album, personally (and I say this as someone who doesn't know this artist and thus has no dog in this race).

If this secret is the extent of your 'I don't like this album', or even if you put a single, "I'm not a fan of the sound of the latest album." on your Twitter or journal or FB or whatever, that's not being a bad fan IMO.

I have NEVER been a fan of a group where I liked EVERY SINGLE SONG. And even some albums are hit and miss for me sometimes. It happens.

My pet peeve with these scenarios is when I go to watch a new MV on youtube or something and there's tons of comments that are all, "Ugh this new sound is so lame, old [group] is so much better. They're dead to me after [album]."

Like... to me there's no need to be like that, it feels rude. It's okay not to like things, but to demand that a group or singer never changes their style, never evolves, etc, is stupid imo.

So as long as you're not trying to ruin anyone else's enjoyment of the new stuff, then go ahead and not like it. You're not obligated to like everything someone does in order to be a fan.
