she looks like a teen - like, sixteen or something
I can see why people would be uncomfortable with it
(no dog in this fight myself, I've never played a single second of The Witcher (is it one game or multiple, for that matter?))

I've never played a second of it either but I had the impression that the main character going after much younger women was a thing. Not that people can't be uncomfortable with it - I'm just saying I'm not surprised.

Geralt can be a horndog if you play him that way and the games give you L O T S of opportunities, but while there have been one-off vampire orgies, all of his ~serious~ love interests have been at least 20+ (or looking that age because 2 of them are sorceresses) and I cannot fathom how someone could cast someone that young for Yennefer. Like even if they had only read the books and not played the games and seen the version of her in the games, she comes off to me at least as being 30+, not even factoring in how she's a maternal figure to one character. It will be very odd watching a 22 year old act as a maternal figure to a character played by someone who is only 5 years younger than her.

The Witcher is 3 games, all single player rpgs, and based on a Polish (if I'm remembering it right) book series. Games are great, books are great, author's kind of an idiot, but it doesn't show in his writing.

I don't know this actress. But I hate the trend of casting actresses that look really young for roles where the man and the woman are supposed to be around the same age.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yennefer in book-lore always screamed sexy mature woman (I always kind of thought 30's in appearance for age), so this is...very different from what I imagined, and from what the games went with design-wise. I'm a little uncomfortable because I don't know the actress's actual age and she does look young, but if the issue is just *looking* young, make-up can fix that. It would be in-character, too.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
The actress is 22.

She looks like the woman who is the VA for Kassandra.

Yeah, she looks like a child.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Eww.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Imagine being proud of watching a barely legal looking girl have sex scenes with a creepy old man. Fucking scumbag, OP.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
1) Did OP say they were proud?

2) Did you know this scenario was 100% fictional?

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Ah yes because what she LOOKS like is more important than being a consenting adult.

Go suck an egg.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
She's 20 something and she doesn't look underage at all. Are we even looking at the same person wtf

agreed

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
It really sounds like op enjoys what they see (underage-looking person) and is totally in for the kink.

She doesn't look underage and you are both looking for ways to attack OP.

Seconding this hard.

Yen is supposed to look around 25, so it isn't like they've done as bad a casting job as a lot of people think. The series is based on the books not the video games where Yen looked rather a bit older.

I personally think they both look too young for their parts and hate how grey his hair is. His hair has been white since he was eleven and went through his second trial of the grasses! It isn't silver or grey and it's nothing to do with his age. But I really didn't want a(nother) live action version of this so will be giving it a pass and only occasionally peeking into the fandom to see the drama.

As others have said, I hate the Hollywood trend of casting significantly younger women to play supposedly close-in-age love interests to male characters.

That said, wow, that girl is SO BEAUTIFUL IT'S NOT EVEN FAIR. (Not saying she's a good casting choice or that she isn't. I've never read/played Witcher and have no dog in this fight. But wow, that is one beautiful young woman.)

Jesus, I've never even played The Witcher and I still know Yen is supposed to be a lot more mature looking. It's so tiring to see actual adult women getting sidelined again and again, especially when their love interests are their age or older.

(Anonymous) 2018-12-20 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
She is not supposed to be more mature looking. She's over 100 but uses magic to hide her humpback and make herself look like a beautiful woman in her mid 20s.

Oh and Geralt is younger, around 75 when he lifts the curse from Ciri's father. He looks about 45 in the face but the white hair he's had since childhood makes it difficult for people to guess his age.

are people upset about henry cavill? i've only seen relentless mocking of that awful shiny wig
