I would honestly kill for a Star Trek: TOS reboot that's completely gender-swapped. Holy god.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court was genderswapped and ageswapped. Any story can be made fresh with a different character because there are no original stories, only original ways of telling them.

So I don't think that a genderswapped James Bond is any less original than an all new female spy character.

Besides, like, what the Man From UNCLE is so original? Or Kingsman? Because it's okay for male characters to be unoriginal but not female characters?

+1 Whenever the topic of genderswapping comes up, there's always at least one person who goes, "But it's so UNORIGINAAAAAAAL..." Yes, and? Do you require all your media to be completely original concepts? How is that a valid objection?

To me, the fact that this allows you to recycle old stories and tropes is a benefit, not a problem. You get a fresh angle on them and you get to tell classic stories again. These are good things! Classic stories are good for a reason!

Kristen Stewart as Loki?
FUCK YES PLEASE I WANT THAT!!!

(Anonymous) 2018-12-21 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, that's what I thought, too.

Although, tbh, I doubt she'd have the acting chops for it. I actually don't think Kstew is a terrible actor, but I do think she's an extremely naturalistic actor. Which is why she's so much better in indie movies than big blockbusters. she plays "a person, with feelings and thoughts and stuff" pretty well, but I doubt she could do the Big Dramatic OTT Villain With Flair very well. Still, I'd be happy to be proven wrong. Looks-wise, though, she's got the part on lock. :)

I dunno - I thought she was pretty awesome in 'The Runaways' playing Joan Jett.... I've liked her in everything I've seen her in (i haven't always liked the movie she was in, but she's fascinating to watch).

I am *more* than willing to give her a chance at Loki. :D

This is true, and it's why I really want to see her in, like, spy movies and serious dramatic thrillers and stuff. That seems like the best genre for her talents.

She's apparently going to be in the new Charlie's Angels which should be fun.

Ohh, that would be cool. I'm for it.

I've never really understood why so many people tout the opinion that she's a horrible actor. Like, is it just Twilight/Bella hate, or...? Because while I don't see her winning any Oscars ever, I don't think she's bad either. And there's something about her acting that feels different than most, and which I like. She plays tired really well. And you can always really see her thinking, which I like.

This. She looks cute, but I don't really see her having the energy and charisma required for a trickster god.

Agreed. But I want women in all things and starring in all things and being all characters all the time. Just been on a women kick lately.

Also, not sure who they have cast as Thor, but she's very fine.

JLaw, apparently.

Honestly, I would recommend you go search out this topic yourself, because there's quite a lot of photoshops people have done. Some of which are really good, some of which are... not, but it's out there.

Wow, really. That doesnn't look like her to me at all. But I'm going to have to go hunting now. Fem!Thor is such a great idea.

SAME HERE! OH MY GOSH.

They need to make it happen. Because yeah, a female deadpool movie, a female spiderman, avengers, I am all for this bandwagon!

(Anonymous) 2018-12-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I think that the genderswapped Captain America is... Amber Heard, probably? But for a second I thought it was Christina Applegate of Married with Children fame. Which would also be awesome.
